Silk mix baby bodies add the gentle, protective properties of pure, natural silk to your baby's next-to-the-skin layer. Silk and silk blend fabrics are our softest, gentlest fabrics, recommended for sensetive skins, eczema sufferers and for whenever extra comfort is needed.
Why is silk so good for the skin?
First, its hollow-fibre construction helps regulate body temperature. Secondly, it's also very breathable making it a healthy underlayer. Moisture is absorbed and released outwards away from the body. And, as the whole world knows, it's very soft and gentle to wear.
Our pure silk is certified organic by IMO and is of very high quality. We have chosen dye-free, chemical-free bourette silk for our range which we believe is excellent value. Bourette silk is spun silk and has a warm, natural feel.
Our silk/cotton blend combines schappe silk with organic cotton. It is excellent for problem skins, including eczema. It's one of our highest-quality fabrics and has a soothing, calming effect on the skin.
Our silk/Merino wool blend makes a wonderfully soft, fine fabric which is breathable and moisture-wicking. By absorbing moisture produced by the skin, and allowing it to evaporate, your baby's temperature is kept more stable. The combination of silk with the properties of Merino wool (see the Merino section above!) makes these warmer vests perfect for any Autumn, Winter or Spring day.
