Disana Knitted Nappy Cover in Organic Merino Wool

5 of 5 Stars! from 7 Reviews

Effective, good value wool wrap beloved by Germans and catching on in the UK. Pull on over a cloth nappy for a breathable outer layer that cleans itself.
  • 100% organic Merino wool, this is the softest, most natural nappy outer you can get
  • breathable - healthy for baby's skin
  • naturally stretchy for baby's comfort
  • Note: sizing recommendations have been adjusted for a better fit following lanolising which shrinks the garment. If you don't plan to lanolise, we advise that you size down. See sizing tab for details.
Disana have discontinued size 3 years (110/116) so these are now end-of-line!

Plus points
It's natural and organic; it gets better with use; it fits over any secured cloth nappy and any terry or muslin fold; it's truly breathable so excellent for nappy rash; it's is soft on the skin (no nasty red marks); it's sustainably produced; it's self-cleaning and only needs washing every couple of weeks - simply air it after use.

"My friend recommended these to me and I was quite sceptical until she lent me one. Now I'm impressed. Like my other wraps, yes, this one smells of wee in the morning - but I hang it up and by the evening it smells clean again. The difference is clear!". Sophie, Cambridge.

Minus points
They will need proofing with lanolin (found below) to start with to improve its water resistance, and around once a month thereafter - it is less waterproof at the beginning until it felts a little. And as it felts, which it will, it will get smaller - so start bigger!

How to lanolise your nappy wraps
Dilute 4 dessert-spoonfuls of wool cure in about a cup of very hot water. Pour into a bowl and dilute with cooler water until luke-warm (this is called a lanolin bath). Add your woollens and squeeze through. Remove and use a towel to remove excess water, and re-shape. Dry away from direct heat. The lanolin will coat the fibres, improving water proofing.

We recommend doing this three times before use to create a great "barrier" but, to be honest, most people don't. You will need to repeat about once a month.

You can also try lanolising pyjamas and sleeping bags to continue the night-time nappy breathing process, and you can lanolise wool baby-bodies and then close them over the wrap (just like with a disposable nappy) to help keep everything in place. Brilliant!

Sizing These nappy covers will need proofing with lanolin to improve their water resistance. Please see the 'more' tab for the lanolising procedure. This treatment leads to some felting and the nappy cover will reduce in size. For this reason we hope you will understand that we have re-sized these brilliant Merino wool nappy covers, due to customer feedback.
