You're spot on, wool socks, especially the thinner knit can be less hard-wearing than cotton - hard heels or stiff leather boots can wear then out more quickly than they do cotton socks.

It's a trade-off between the durability of cotton, and wool's breathability and extra comfort - both indoors and out. Plus, wool socks hardly ever need washing which is both more practical, cheaper and more environmentally friendly. (Yes, I love wool socks!)

"Lovely colour red.
My son found these comfortable (he found Cosilana PJs too itchy). I don't think these are as soft and silky as Living Crafts, but prefer the colours.
I've put my son in Engel silk-wool since a baby. As these are not treated wool-silk, like Joha for example, I've shrunk a few by putting them on a cool machine wool wash, but with a spin (took me a while to work this out - just switch spin off).
Now I have learned - I wash rarely ;-) hang to air mostly - rotate with other PJs - and he wears an Engel vest under and Engel leggings as PJ bottoms with pants underneath ... It works in a cold house, looks cute in this colour and doesn't show the grub on the cuffs as much as ivory!"

"We used it for the whole winter last year and will get another winter out of it this year. The lining wasn't as i expected, it was knitted cotton but it didn't itch or scratch. My little one kept it on all the time too. Great idea.
