Tussah silk is harvested from the cocoons of wild silkworms. Also known as Tussar, this silk is made from the cocoons of silkworms before they have been processed and refined.

More robust than mulberry silk, the thicker and shorter thread is more uneven and less fine so has a more durable nature.

Silkworms spin an uneven filament in natural shades of cream, gold, and brown that give tussah a unique structure and feel. These stiffer silks are perfect for more durable applications.

The quality of the silk depends directly on the diet and surroundings of the silkworm, so Tussah is very tough. Tussah silk fabric is resistant to dyes and stains and is very durable. For this silk fabric, care and stain protection instructions are minimal compared to other silk fabrics.
