Disana's GOTS certified organic standard is so high that even oils that lubricate knitting machines have to be analysed. Disana's whole garment (not just the yarn) is certified as organic, so that you can be assured that their dyes are baby-safe, eco-safe and that all cotton threads and finishes are natural too.
All certified organic wool comes from sheep which have been farmed organically and with high animal welfare standards. At Cambridge Baby we always make sure that no wool comes from farms which practise mulesing.
Please note that under EU labelling regulations, stating the type of wool is not allowed, only a statement of "100% wool" or "new wool" is allowed. However, this garment is organic Merino wool.
The Merino wool fibre is very fine, soft and springy and is not itchy at all to most skins. The Merino sheep usually thrives in mountainous areas at high altitudes and its wool is naturally brilliant at keeping the body comfortable at a wide range of temperatures. Wool (and thus Merino wool) has many benefits.
Merino wool is the wool of choice for baby and children's clothes, as well as for sportswear, because it's finer than most other wools. It's naturally springy (which makes it softer) and has a tight crimp, allowing it to trap more air, making clothing lighter as well as softer for the same excellent insulation.
Merino wool has also been proven to absorb UV across the whole range of the spectrum, giving excellent lightweight sun protection in the summer too.
"This item is great, I have used it since my son was 3 months old, in a smaller size of course! Now using it in its largest form on my 2 and a half year old. It really gives me comfort that a natural fibre will keep him warm and not allow him to overheat. On a cold winter's night I want him to be warm in his chilly room, but not in a synthetic fleece where he could over heat and it would be dangerous, as well as more flammable. This bag is so comfy, he doesn't like to take it off til after breakfast!"
This was washed... had to be careful
This was worn by... my son aged 3 months til now at 2 and a half, and he is staying in it at least another year I think!
Sizing: Feels true to size
I'd recommend this to a friend.
"My daughter slept in one of these beautiful bags for several years! She absolutely loved them - they are snug and warm, whilst stretching easily to allow for unencumbered movement. She didn't want to give them up, even learning to walk around in one (not to be recommended!). She has now moved on to a merino wool onesie from Cambridge Baby - another sleep time success!"

"Our toddler was constantly waking up without a blanket covering him. We don't have wool sleeping bags like this in the US, so was glad to find it via Cambridge Baby. He loves wearing it and it works nicely over his wool diaper cover and a wool long sleeve. We love it so much, our new little one will wear one of these from the start (smaller size of course!)."
This was washed... washed fine
This was worn by... Our very tall almost two year old
Sizing: A little generous
"This is a lovely natural product and keeps my baby snuggly all night long. I like that it is neat and soft and stretchy unlike other sleeping bags. The only downside for me is that it has to be hand washed which is a pain."
This was worn by... my baby boy
"This is excellent. Baby has been sleeping in it since she's 1 month old and it keeps her warm without overheating. She's 4 month old now and, being generously sized, it will still fit for a good while. Hand wash is fine but hardly ever needs it."
This was worn by... my baby (4 months)
I wouldn't really recommend this to a friend.
"As it's wool, seems to almost grow with baby; ours has been in hers for six months so far. Also, in terms of cleaning, a friend borrowed it for her young baby whose nappy leaked, and since it's pure wool, the stains came out very well."
This was worn by... Our now 10-month-old girl of slightly smaller than average size
Cloth nappies Customers have lanolinised this sleeping bag and used it as a soaker with cloth nappies - if you fancy this, we would recommend wool all-in-ones, wool PJs or a wool vest underneath as well as our lanolising "wool cure".
