Disana's GOTS certified organic standard is so high that even oils that lubricate knitting machines have to be analysed. Disana's whole garment (not just the yarn) is certified as organic, so that you can be assured that their dyes are baby-safe, eco-safe and that all cotton threads and finishes are natural too.
All certified organic wool comes from sheep which have been farmed organically and with high animal welfare standards. At Cambridge Baby we always make sure that no wool comes from farms which practise mulesing.
Please note that under EU labelling regulations, stating the type of wool is not allowed, only a statement of "100% wool" or "new wool" is allowed. However, this garment is organic Merino wool.
The Merino wool fibre is very fine, soft and springy and is not itchy at all to most skins. The Merino sheep usually thrives in mountainous areas at high altitudes and its wool is naturally brilliant at keeping the body comfortable at a wide range of temperatures. Wool (and thus Merino wool) has many benefits.
Merino wool is the wool of choice for baby and children's clothes, as well as for sportswear, because it's finer than most other wools. It's naturally springy (which makes it softer) and has a tight crimp, allowing it to trap more air, making clothing lighter as well as softer for the same excellent insulation.
Merino wool has also been proven to absorb UV across the whole range of the spectrum, giving excellent lightweight sun protection in the summer too.
"I love the letterbox opening at the neck as it makes it so easy to put it and take off."

Sizing: A little generous
I'd recommend this to a friend.
"I bought these for my grandson when a toddler and in buying new ones for his baby sister I discovered the larger version. Expensive but were worn constantly so good value."
This was washed... Ones I had before we hand washed in warm water so as not to shock wool.
Sizing: Feels true to size
"Bought the 6-12 month size for our 11 month old boy. He is currently in 12-18 month clothes due to being 99th centile height so I was dubious that it would fit for long but the sizing is very generous, I would say it's more like 12-24 months and he has loads of room to grow into it. It is also quite stretchy so can grow a bit with him. Feels like it is very comfy to wear due to the stretch and due to the wool not being too thick (but still warm). Looks a good quality when he is wearing it and a nice traditional piece of clothing that goes with everything and hopefully can be passed down as it won't go out of fashion. I love it and have also since bought in blue - the colours are exactly the tone in the pictures. Only drawback to these clothes is that I am terrified of putting them anywhere near the washing machine after previous disasters. So I keep a separate basket for wool items then when I have a few I hand wash in barely-warm water with a gentle wool detergent, then gently "

I wouldn't really recommend this to a friend.
"Fab jumper, gorgeous colour, well made. But... got 'bobbly' fairly fast (despite only one hand wash so far) and neck fit is not v good (tends to gape). On our long bodied/short armed baby it was good through the body but long on the arm."
This was washed... had to be careful
This was worn by... Our active 14-16 month old boy.
