All certified organic wool comes from sheep which have been farmed organically and with high animal welfare standards. At Cambridge Baby we always make sure that no wool comes from farms which practise mulesing.
The GOTS organic standards are so high that even oils that lubricate knitting machines have to be analysed. Grodo's whole garment (not just the yarn) is certified as organic, so that you can be assured that their dyes are baby-safe, eco-safe and that all cotton threads and finishes are natural too.
Wool has many benefits:
In this way, wool is a wonderful temperature-regulator, slowing down the effects of changes of temperature and helping prevent sweatiness by absorbing moisture and releasing it in response to the environment. This makes it a wonderful fabric for socks and tights for the whole family, as well as for athletes, cyclists, skiers and mountain-climbers. It's naturally high-tech and can't be beaten by synthetics!
Find out more about the properties of wool in our blog.
Dilute your wool detergent in cool water (max 30oc which will feel luke-warm) in a bowl. For heavily-soiled areas, use a little gall soap on your woollens first, testing on an inconspicuous area first.
Add your woollens to the bowl, gently stirring and squeezing the detergent through. Rinse using water at the same temperature, otherwise your wool will be subjected to "shock" and might felt up.
To dry, gently squeeze water out and wrap your wool clothes in a towel to remove the excess water.
Air-dry naturally avoiding direct heat. So, hanging on a drying rack over the bath is good, or on a clothes horse, or flat on a dry terry towel.
Re-shape while damp.
"Beautifully soft and make for warm and toasty toes but not too thick so fit fine in ordinary shoes"

"We bought this to keep our toddler's feet warm at winter nights during the transition of wearing footed pyjamas into two pieces pyjamas. We bought bigger size than her feet because we wanted her to have a feeling of wearing a footed pyjamas, not socks. It's very light and she seemed to be comfortable in it."

"These lovely socks were for my grand daughter to use on a family trip to Norway. The temperature was very cold, and along with snow boots did the trick at keeping toes toasty. I have used Cambridge Baby for gifts for all of our grandchildren, and have recommended it to others. I wish you had been around when our children were little!"

"Nice socks which keep well and don't loose colour or shape. Needs careful hand washing though but as they are pure wool there is no need to wash them every day. Stains come off amazingly well. I would not try washing these in the machine. Keep little baby feet warm and dry!"
This was washed... had to be careful

"We have had these in various sizes as my darling grows. She wears them more readily than other wool socks. They are some of the more 'normal' seeming wool socks. I recommend them."
