The organic Merino wool is certified as organic by IMO to GOTS standards.
The use of pesticides both on the meadows and the animal is inadmissible. The animals procreate in a natural way and any kind of change on the animal such as trimming the tail or mulesing are forbidden. In short – the sheep should live a happy life!
The certified organic origin of the wool ensures that it has been produced without noxious substances like pesticides and herbicides.
Wool (and thus Merino wool) has many benefits when worn next to the skin and about the body. Find out more about the properties of wool here in our blog.
The addition of silk results in a fabric that is luxuriousy silky to the touch. Silk is a natural temperature regulator, helping the body retain heat in cold weather and excess heat is expelled in warm weather. Therefore your body maintains a natural, comfortable temperature.
Silk is hypoallergenic; it does not attract dust mites and is a natural fungal repellent.
With it's extremely smooth and soft texture silk proves to be beneficial for those with sensitive skin conditions (e.g. Eczema). Silk does not conduct static electricity.
Organic Merino wool combined with the gentle, skin-friendly properties of silk makes the ultimate fabric for the well-being of the skin and body.
Wool is naturally self-cleaning, the outer surfaces of the fibre pushing dirt down and off itself. It's naturally anti-bacterial and neutralises odours too. Silk also releases dirt easily
When you do need to wash it, hand wash in cold water as follows.
Use a detergent designed for wool and silk which protects and repenishes wool's natural oils such as one of our liquid wool shampoos in our fabric care section here.
Dilute your wool detergent in a bowl of cold water.
Add your woollens to the bowl, gently stirring and squeezing the detergent through. Rinse using cold water
To dry, gently squeeze water out and wrap your wool clothes in a towel to remove the excess water. Air-dry naturally avoiding direct heat. So, hanging on a drying rack over the bath is good, or on a clothes horse.

"Love it. My 3yo was hesitant at first (tried on, immediately said it was too scratchy and refused it for a week) but eventually let me put it on him again and he's not been out of it for two weeks. Every morning he's so excited to wear his "stripy shirt" so I'm very relieved! Would highly recommend and will be buying at least one more, and maybe a long sleeve one to swap out (and prove to nursery that he actually does have more than one outfit haha!) Little note on washing, I've not done a full wash yet but a couple of spot cleans that were almost a full wash in themselves (3 year olds are messy!) so I can say that it stood up well to tomato sauce, mud, etc. very well, it's amazing to see 'stains' just disappear with minimal effort. For a spot wash I just use a little bit of olive oil soap on the dirt, rinse and kind of gently pinch between my fingertips a few times until it's gone. We do that at bath time and then leave to dry overnight, and it's dry and ready to use again by morni"

"Cosilana wool/silks never fail us: they are soft, durable, breathable, can be worn on their own or as a layer and the stripy design is a hit with children!"
"I bought this for my 3 year old girl. She is small for her age and it still fits fine and she is now 4.5! (She's only 90cm tall). I'm happy that she has a warm vest on - when she chooses to wear a sleeveless dress in January! She finds it comfy and is happy to wear it. I've only washed it a few times - in pure soap and its been fine."
This was worn by... My small 4 year old.
