Wool has many benefits:
In this way, wool is a wonderful temperature-regulator, slowing down the effects of changes of temperature and helping prevent sweatiness by absorbing moisture and releasing it in response to the environment. This makes it a wonderful fabric for socks and tights for the whole family, as well as for athletes, cyclists, skiers and mountain-climbers. It's naturally high-tec and can't be beaten by synthetics!
Find out more about the properties of wool in our blog.
Dilute your wool detergent in cool water (max 30oc which will feel luke-warm) in a bowl. For heavily-soiled areas, use a little gall soap on your woollens first, testing on an inconspicuous area first.
Add your woollens to the bowl, gently stirring and squeezing the detergent through. Rinse using water at the same temperature, otherwise your wool will be subjected to "shock" and might felt up.
To dry, gently squeeze water out and wrap your wool clothes in a towel to remove the excess water.
Air-dry naturally avoiding direct heat. So, hanging on a drying rack over the bath is good, or on a clothes horse, or flat on a dry terry towel.
Re-shape while damp.

"At 78, I bought these to keep my feet warm in bed and they work wonderfully. Bought a second pair soon after. One piece of advice: do not let your daughter wash them in hot water, they shrink and felt. Follow the hand wash washing instructions!"

Sizing: A little generous
I'd recommend this to a friend.
"I use them as slippers around the house. They are very comfy and I like the natural temperature control. I find them too loose so they twist around my foot, meaning the anti slip pads are not in the right place. This defeats the object of them being non-slip."
This was washed... washed fine

Sizing: Too big
"Excellent product and customer service. The socks are new wool but not scratchy and much healthier for you than any polyester type of this product."
This was washed... not needed washing yet
Sizing: Feels true to size
"These socks are nice for around the house but too loose for exercise class"

"Lovely natural warm socks."

"I like these socks a lot, and find them useful, but noticed the other day that huge holes had opened at each heel. This is after a year of ownership but only moderate, not heavy wear. I don’t think they can be darned due to the plastic spots. I do have hard floors (but then I could just wear ordinary socks if it was all carpet). I had already bought a second pair when this happened but I don’t think I’ll get them again. Size wise, I am an EU40 but found I needed to size down to 38-39 in this style. They washed well in a machine wool wash on cold/gentle spin. No shrinkage."

I wouldn't really recommend this to a friend.
