The Alpaca is a mammal that lives in high altitudes in South America and has a wonderful fleece that keeps it comfortable at a wide range of temperatures. Alpacas are seasonally shorn of their fleece which is combed and cleaned and made into these gorgeous clothes.
Baby Alpaca is a very fine grade of alpaca fibre, often from the belly of grown-up alpacas, not necessarily from actual baby alpacas. It's around 19-21 micron in diameter.
Alpaca clothing has heaps of benefits for your child and family as it is actually superior to Merino wool in a number of ways!
If you need to wash it, hand-wash in lukewarm water, cool to tepid, no more than 30C.
Use a liquid detergent designed to protect natural fibres for wool as sold in our fabric care category here.
Gently squeeze water through, avoiding any rubbing or wringing action.
Rinse at the same lukewarm, tepid temperature avoiding temperature change. Gently squeeze the water through.
Lay out on a towel, and then gently roll it up to remove excess water. Do not wring or twist the garment.
Lay flat to dry, re-shaping while damp. Avoid direct heat and sunlight.
"Got this as a gift to a friend. Lovely and soft material, not scratchy. Only thing is, I was a bit surprised at the size of the wrist warmers, as they are packed absolutely tiny when they have the brown paper band around them, much smaller than they appear in the picture. But are a normal size when unwrapped. A bit thinner than I imagined, but still warm. All in all a good product."
This was washed... I don't know, as it was a gift to somebody else

Sizing: Feels true to size
I'd recommend this to a friend.
"I had been eyeing these wrist warmers for a couple of years now. It is so hard to find gloves that actually keep the wind out and keep you warm at the same time. Planning to buy the full gloves now. I do wish they would be a bit longer on the wrist because they are sooo warm. Not a deal breaker though. Will buy again. Holds it´s shape very well too."
This was washed... not needed washing yet

"I have knitted my own, but can’t get anywhere near this fine and pretty. I love these wrist warmers so much - felt like getting more colours, but I have the mushroom, which is classic and goes with my coats. I have these on me every day. They are very warm and comfortable to wear. They are goo for fine hands, but think they stretch well to accommodate S, M to L, but not XL, mens hands. These make good gifts too."

"I bought one pair and they were so nice I have just bought another pair... wished I had discovered alpaca years ago, so soft and so warm..."
This was worn by... Me!
Sizing: A little generous
"They are made in Peru and are a very pretty colour (dark lilac). They don't itch at all and are very soft and warm. The only slight downside is that I have extremely small hands and therefore they could do with being slightly tighter."
