Silk is excellent for the skin. It is gentle, insulating and breathable, and known for generations and across cultures as the ideal next-to-the-skin layer.

Silk naturally refreshes itself when aired as it releases dirt and odours easily. Hang to air when necessary.

When needed, hand wash your silk at no higher than 30°C, which feels lukewarm to the touch. Use a ph-neutral detergent designed to protect silk's natural oils. We recommend one of our liquid wool shampoos in our fabric care section here.

Air dry naturally out of direct sunlight. Don't tumble-dry but squeeze out excess water by wrapping your silk garment in a towel, and hang to dry.

Hirsch Natur is a family business which was established in 1928 by Franz Kloppenborg, a restaurant owner who diversified into making work socks. The first machine were set up in the restaurant’s ballroom! The company is currently run by his great-grandson Matthias.

While they made sturdy working socks at first, Hirsch Natur were pioneers of organic textiles. Their factory is certified to Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) and has received the “IVN-Best” certification. They produce 50% of their own energy sustainably through solar panels too.
