The Alpaca is a mammal that lives in high altitudes in South America and has a wonderful fleece that keeps it comfortable at a wide range of temperatures. Alpacas are seasonally shorn of their fleece which is combed and cleaned and made into these gorgeous clothes.
Baby Alpaca is a very fine grade of alpaca fibre, often from the belly of grown-up alpacas, not necessarily from actual baby alpacas. It's around 19-21 micron in diameter.
Alpaca clothing has heaps of benefits for your child and family as it is actually superior to Merino wool in a number of ways!
If you need to wash it, hand-wash in lukewarm water, cool to tepid, no more than 30C.
Use a liquid detergent designed to protect natural fibres for wool as sold in our fabric care category here.
Gently squeeze water through, avoiding any rubbing or wringing action.
Rinse at the same lukewarm, tepid temperature avoiding temperature change. Gently squeeze the water through.
Lay out on a towel, and then gently roll it up to remove excess water. Do not wring or twist the garment.
Lay flat to dry, re-shaping while damp. Avoid direct heat and sunlight.
"Lovely legwarmers. Very warm. Spice is such a gorgeous colour - warming just to look at."
This was washed... Not washed yet but have washed the matching wrist warmers. Washed as cashmere, separately bagged, using an appropriate wool wash and came up beautifully.

"The wool is so soft and the colour range is tasteful, beautiful. A really practical item, essential for me as I'm prone to cold legs all year round. I now have a selection to match every outfit!"

"I love them ,but I’m not sure washing was a great option as they have shrunk"
Sizing: A little small
I wouldn't really recommend this to a friend.
"After reading other reviews I assumed they would not fit my calves which are big (I’m size 22). So I bought these as wrist/ arm warmers! They work great as wrist warmers (elbow to thumb) and as arm warmers (mid bicep to wrist), bearing in mind I have short limbs being only 5’3” tall. They actually do fit my calves too! Just above ankle to knee when fully stretched up. And I have big calves, but short, so I think these would be a bit short for taller people. By the way they still fit back on my wrists so I don’t think I stretched them. Fabric - soft Colour - moss green, exactly as my browser- rich deep yummy colour."
This was worn by... Woman with short wide calves and forearms
"Wearing with trousers and skirts with shirt boots. A little small even for a petite person like me! (for age 8 and above) would appreciate longer length"
